The sculptural objects I use in my work are defined by the place in which they sit and will expand until the physical and psychological space becomes part of the piece. The viewer brings their own narrative to this and the dynamic shifts and changes. As an artist I make material interventions that embrace the particularities of a place, developing the relationship between an artwork, the viewer and the containing space. I play with scale and authority, giving small things giant shadows for example, or diminishing the significance of a sculpture by using throw-away materials and unceremonious presentation. In CONSTRUCT, the ambiguous rusty sculpture has imposed a permanent shadow across the ground.
