Art in a UNESCO Biosphere

Sculpture Gardens

Open Wednesday – Sunday from 10am until sunset.

Lose yourself in an ancient woodland where art & nature coexist, evolving in symbiosis.

The sculpture exhibition has been active for over 25 years and showcases approx 150 pieces throughout the gardens.

As a gallery, we seek and support the contemporary artist: celebrating both traditional and modern crafts, engineering and thinking.

Most of the artwork is available for sale. Please click to see our artist catalogue

Canvas Restaurant

Art and food in a thought-provoking atmosphere

Dinner | Wednesday – Saturday 6 – 8pm

Guests are invited to dine from either a three-course set menu or our signature palette menu. All guests in a group must select from the same menu (selected at time of booking).

Canvas is fully committed to supporting the local British farmers, growers and producers that share its passion for the best of British produce. Our focus is on the natural rhythms of the British countryside, this allows us to showcase the exceptional quality and diversity of UK products and ingredients through our carefully curated menus. We believe that food should be a celebration of the land and the people who nurture it, and we strive to convey this message through every plate that leaves our kitchen.

Art Hotel

Unwind, switch off and recoup

Each of the seven boutique bedrooms has its own unique personality and ambiance inspired by arthouse and cult films including:

Velvet Goldmine, Lost in Translation, Moonrise Kingdom, Betty Blue, Amelie, Clockwork Orange & Grey Gardens.

The rooms are set in a 1913 property, which is south facing with gloriously high ceilings. The property was refurbished in July 2021 and also now features a treatment room for ultimate relaxation.

Broomhill also offers wild camping for campervans and recreational vehicles. We have 6 spaces which are all bookable throughout the year.

The hotel also boasts a 30 seater restaurant and a number of immersive bars and lounges inspired by the arts. The cinema room features authentic Hollywood props from films such as: Highlander, Alien v Predator, Fight Club and more.

In Harmony

A collaborative exhibition with the Royal Society of Sculptors, featuring some of the UK’s leading sculptors.

This sculpture exhibition is set within our ancient woodlands and water gardens, nestled in the North Devon Biosphere.  Each artwork has a bespoke planting scheme which embodies the ethos of our gardens ‘Function in Form’, complementing the artwork and supporting the natural habitats.

Collectors

Art exchange

The commercial art programme at Broomhill Estate is founded on three core principles:

1. To actively support and fund a community of distinctive and diligent artists.

2. To contribute to the conservation and rejuvenation of the natural environment.

3. To provide a space for people to be inspired and to develop creative skills.

With the commerce of art and leisure, the project can continue to deliver activities to sustain the three core principles.
