Artist Statement
My work revolves around the exploration of the artificial and its relationship to biological processes of explosive growth and decay. In my work I combine trans-historical, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary imagery; placing ‘artifacts’ in the same context as industrial and petrochemical materials as a means of deconstructing the signifiers of the past to utilise them in a contemporary context. When expressing these concepts I approach sculpture in the broader sense of the term as a manipulation of space, the result of artistic processes, or in the action of art making itself blurring the line between performance, installation and sculpture.
