Through this body of work, I have found that an authentic connection with landscape can only be truly perceived through a fundamental and personal experience with it. Viewpoint is, therefore, an invitation. It is a single curl of steel offering viewers an opportunity to step within and isolate themselves momentarily from the wider landscape, allowing a pause – a chance to reflect. The variety of apertures within the steel structure dictate views of the outside, offering perspectives that are both traditional and perhaps more challenging in nature. Viewpoint is also an experience. In creating a barrier between the user and the landscape, it aims to address the apparent disconnected relationship between the two.
