Artist Statement

“Wandering” represents an anthropomorphic figure, which has been inspired by a traditional metal tool. A totemic Guardian from the front, powerful in its erectness and stillness, a walking figure from the side. In my artistic enquiry, I explore the vitality of an animistic parallel world. The in-between states of objects fascinate me when they have lost their intended function, waiting to become something else. I’m interested in the emotional connections human beings develop with surrounding objects and I’m currently studying the psychological process which leads us to project a personified being onto an inanimate thing. Form and haptic sensations are essential to my work as they have the power to awaken primal emotional responses in the viewer.
