Broomhill Estate Sculpture Gardens & Art Gallery: The Next Generation
Announcing Spring Clear-Out of All Remaining Sculptures
Friends,
We’ve gone virtual, welcome to our new website!
Broomhill Estate, in its most recent incarnation, has ceased trading. Currently, it is not possible to make bookings for the art hotel, sculpture gardens, terrace café, or Canvas restaurant, nor enquire about future Wedding or event hostings. When the property reopens, it will be under different ownership.
We’ve now taken the opportunity to re-purpose the Broomhill website and convert it into a lasting showcase honouring all the good work done at Broomhill over the years. Broomhill has been an important part of the fabric of North Devon for many years (more than 70 for the hotel and 25 for the sculpture gardens).
This new website is designed to accomplish multiple objectives:
In the near term, as a matter of urgency, all of the works remaining on-site in North Devon need to be re-homed in the coming weeks, to make way for the new owners. This site lists the available works and the process for expressing interest in them. We’re starting with listing the large outdoor pieces, with other works to be added over time.
This site will serve as an archive for all the artworks and exhibitions displayed at Broomhill over the years. For starters, we’ve catalogued all the historical finalists of the National Sculpture Prize to the best of our abilities, with updates and more works to be added as we become aware of them. Ideally we would like to recognise as many of the works of art and sculpture displayed at Broomhill as possible.
We would like to provide a platform to the community that supported Broomhill over the years. If you have anything that would add to this goal, that we can include for the common good, please send it along. This includes any photos, memories, stories or likewise. In particular, we would love to hear updates about works that have found a life after Broomhill, especially if they are in the public domain and viewable.
We’ll use this site to promote and sell art, sculpture, memorabilia and products related to our time at Broomhill. As an exciting example, we’re debuting a new exhibition for you, “Art inspiring Art” a photography exhibition capturing the relationship between ballet and sculpture, featuring iconic works in the gardens, in collaboration with a long-time friend of Broomhill, photographer Ken Gascoigne. All of the exhibition prints are available for purchase.
We’ve now passed the (physical) torch for Broomhill. We want to express sincere gratitude for the historical support for Broomhill, as well as the service provided to us by our staff. We are very proud of all the great works displayed at Broomhill and want to memorialise them as best we can, for the good people of North Devon, and for the arts community in the UK and beyond.
Warm Regards, AFK3 & Mic
