Originally from California, Lisa Pettibone is a UK based visual artist, teacher and curator. She has an MA in art and science from Central Saint Martins London and a BA in 3D design in glass from UCA Farnham. Synthesis II

Lisa has used the natural forces in the kiln to alter the shape of the glass, aiming to connect people with the essential processes that have formed us and our environment. The work creates an experience for the viewer, focussing on the distorted image reflected on the surface. However, five circular pieces of the reflection are missing – instead, the natural scene behind emerges through the openings, joining the viewer and the environment.

Artist statement

I am a visual artist working in sculpture, installation and print. With an interest in astronomy and physics, my practice investigates how form evolves through hidden forces such as gravity, energy and tension. Using a variety of materials, including glass, I express these phenomena, evoking direct sensory experiences that connect people to their environment and probe the nature of perception.
